Israeli official urges UNESCO to reject ‘effort to distort’ Jerusalem’s history

Israeli Foreign Ministry Director-General Dore Gold sent a scathing letter to the head of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization on Monday (UNESCO), criticizing a draft UNESCO resolution that Gold said ignores the historical bond between the Jewish people and the city of Jerusalem.

UNESCO’s 21-member World Heritage Committee is set to vote on the resolution, a joint Palestinian-Jordanian initiative, during its annual meeting in Istanbul, which began next Sunday and runs through that week. The resolution calls for a return to the “historic status quo” on the Temple Mount.

In his letter, Gold wrote, “UNESCO is considering the adoption of a completely one-sided draft resolution on the Old City of Jerusalem that deliberately ignores the historical connection between the Jewish people and their ancient capital. The resolution also fails to acknowledge Christianity’s ties to Jerusalem. It refers to the area of the Temple Mount only as a ‘Muslim holy site of worship.’”

Gold added, “Today, it is Israel that defends religious freedom for all of the great faiths—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—against the tide of intolerance sweeping the Middle East region….We urge you to oppose this effort to distort history, which will offend the members of the Jewish and Christian faiths, and undermine the credibility of UNESCO in the future.”

Why is the UN involved in any issues that are not going to be biased to the islamic muslim world. If your views are so biased you should recuse yourself from making any decision that are based on untruths. You are all aware that Christianity was around long before Islam. So quit trying to change history to fit your narrative. We are educated in our world’s history. Just because you don’t like it does not mean that it changes it??? It may to your people, because they are not taught the true history, but that still doesn’t change it!

Why does anyone listen, let alone follow what the UN says? They are now nothing but a voice for Islam. Jews and Christians from all around the Globe will ignore anything that takes Jerusalem from the Christians and Jews.

Israel & Jerusalem belong to the Jewish people by Divine right. God’s covenant with His people was “forever” and He, unlike man, never goes back on His Word. His new covenant was made with Christians and in no way changes His covenant with Israel. Anyone that goes against His Will can take it up with Him when they meet Him face to Face one day !

Israel is Jesus home, the Israelis are God’s chosen people. That should be enough to leave these people alone. God bless Israel and the people that trust and believe in our Lord.

Well, the leader of the UN is a Muslim….and they are trying to force Islam down the throats of all nations in the world…It is a fight that must be fought…God Bless Israel…
